Read the Bible as it is written

If a teacher keeps inserting doctrine between the lines, almost any chapter can be twisted into anything. Job 40 describes Behemoth, a massive creature. Depending on what someone wants to see, people can argue dinosaur, alien, symbol, or ordinary beast. The safer method is to read the chapter, context, genre, and clear teaching of Scripture before building doctrine.

Common WMSCOG Arguments, Translated Into Plain English

These are the arguments that usually show up when the plain Bible text refuses to cooperate. Test the claim, read the actual passage, and resist the urge to turn every comma into a secret Korean footnote.

“Only God’s chosen people understand this.”

Jesus taught openly, and the Bereans were called noble because they checked the apostles against Scripture daily (John 18:20; Acts 17:11). A doctrine that collapses when questioned is not a mystery; it is a fragile sales pitch.

Translation: “The Bible is clear, unless it disagrees with us. Then suddenly you need our decoder ring.”

“Elohim proves God the Mother.”

Genesis 1 must be read with Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 44:6, John 1:1-3, and Colossians 1:16. The New Testament identifies the Word, Jesus Christ, as the one through whom all things were made. It does not introduce a second female deity.

Hebrew grammar is not a scavenger hunt where every plural noun becomes a secret spouse.

“Life comes through mothers, so there must be God the Mother.”

Biology is not theology. Eternal life is in the Son (1 John 5:11-12). Jesus says the Father has life in Himself and has granted the Son to have life in Himself (John 5:26). Scripture does not say eternal life comes from a heavenly mother goddess.

By that logic, because sheep need shepherds, God must be made of wool. See how fast analogies can crash?

“Only our church has Passover, so only we have salvation.”

Christ is our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7), and salvation is by grace through faith, not institutional membership (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Lord’s Supper points to Jesus, not to the spiritual monopoly of one modern organization.

Owning a calendar does not make you owner of the covenant.

“Every church without our feasts is antichrist.”

John defines antichrist around denying the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22; 1 John 4:2-3). He does not say, “Please check the headquarters-approved festival spreadsheet.”

Apparently the apostle John forgot to include the Korean attendance sheet. Bold oversight, right?

“The age of the Holy Spirit has a new saving name.”

Acts 4:12 says there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Philippians 2:9-11 says every knee bows to Jesus. The name above every name did not expire like yogurt.

If your “new name” doctrine needs Jesus to be functionally retired, it is not Christian. It is rebranding.

“Parables reveal God the Mother.”

Jesus used parables to reveal the kingdom and expose hardened hearts (Matthew 13:10-17). After His resurrection, He opened the Scriptures concerning Himself (Luke 24:27), not a hidden mother deity. Parables are not permission slips to insert any doctrine you already wanted.

That is not Bible study. That is religious Mad Libs with a verse number.

“Jerusalem above means our Mother.”

Galatians 4 contrasts slavery under the law with freedom in the promise. Paul is using an allegory about covenants, not announcing a new goddess. The argument is about freedom in Christ, which makes it deeply awkward for any group using the passage to create more bondage.

Paul: “You are free.” Cult logic: “Wonderful, now obey our system or panic.”

Basic Christian facts

A Christian belongs to Jesus Christ, not to one earthly organization.
You may visit, ask questions, and compare teachings with Scripture.
Prayer should be centered on God through Christ, not made secretive or manipulative.
Worship belongs to all believers. Leaders shepherd and teach, but they do not own the sheep.
Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by membership in a single institution.

Common arguments include: “we are the only church with the New Covenant Passover,” “every church that does not keep Sabbath and feasts is antichrist,” “Elohim proves God the Mother,” “only chosen people can understand,” and “the age of the Holy Spirit requires a new name.” That sounds dramatic. It also sounds like a theological escape room where every door somehow leads back to Korea.

“Only chosen people understand.”

Jesus did teach that some hearts resist truth, but He also publicly preached repentance and the Gospel. The Bereans were called noble because they checked Paul’s teaching against Scripture daily, not because they turned off their brains and saluted the organization. See Acts 17:11, 1 John 4:1, Galatians 1:8.

“Elohim means Father and Mother.”

The Hebrew word Elohim is grammatically plural but is often used with singular verbs for the one God of Israel. Genesis 1:26 must be read with John 1:1-3 and Colossians 1:16: creation is through the Word, Jesus Christ. Adding a mother goddess is not exegesis; it is doctrinal arts and crafts.

“Life comes through mothers, therefore God the Mother.”

Biology is not a blank check for theology. Yes, human life comes through mothers. Eternal life comes through Jesus Christ. John 14:6 says Jesus is the way, truth, and life. John 5:24 and 1 John 5:11-12 place eternal life in the Son.

“All churches without Sabbath, Passover, and feasts are antichrist.”

Scripture defines antichrist around denying the Father and the Son and denying Christ, not around failing to join one Korean-founded religious institution. See 1 John 2:22-23 and 1 John 4:2-3. Colossians 2:16-17 specifically warns against judging believers by festivals, new moons, and sabbaths.

“The age of the Holy Spirit has a different saving name.”

The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus, reminds believers of Jesus’ words, and is sent in Jesus’ name. See John 14:26 and John 16:14. Acts 4:12 and Philippians 2:9-11 do not come with a footnote saying, “until a new membership brochure says otherwise.”

“Parables secretly prove God the Mother.”

Jesus used parables to reveal and conceal, but He did not authorize people to invent doctrines that contradict clear Scripture. Clear teaching governs symbolic teaching. If the conclusion requires twenty hidden steps and a PowerPoint funnel, slow down and read the chapter.

Quick sarcastic responses for common arguments

“No other church has Passover.” Great, but salvation is in Christ, not in a calendar event guarded by one organization like it is a Costco membership card.
“Jerusalem above is our Mother.” Galatians 4 contrasts covenants, not a command to worship a woman as God. Context: still undefeated.
“The new name is Ahnsahnghong.” Revelation says “new name.” It does not say “please insert a 20th-century Korean founder here.”
“Only God’s children can understand.” Translation: when the argument fails, accuse the listener of being spiritually defective. Very convenient. Very not Berean.

Fast rebuttals

When the Argument Starts Doing Gymnastics

A good Bible argument should survive a plain reading of the chapter. If the doctrine only works after three analogies, two diagrams, a headquarters-approved definition, and a warning that questioning it means you are spiritually blind, that is not exegesis. That is theological parkour.

Plain Scripture beats private interpretation

Peter warns against private interpretation and destructive distortions (2 Peter 1:20; 2 Peter 3:16). A teacher may explain Scripture, but he does not get to rewrite the Gospel with hidden meanings.

The Gospel is not organizational captivity

Paul says Christ set us free and warns believers not to submit again to a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1). Any system that uses fear to keep people trapped should be tested hard.

Jesus remains the center

The Scriptures testify of Christ (John 5:39). The apostles preached Christ crucified and risen, not a later replacement messiah with a new membership structure.

Questions are not rebellion

The Bereans searched the Scriptures daily (Acts 17:11). If asking for Bible proof is treated like spiritual treason, the problem is not your question. The problem is the control system.

Simple rule: if the Bible has to be wrestled into a headlock before it says the doctrine, maybe the Bible was not saying it.
